چکیده
Methane is a popular alternative fuel for internal combustion engines due to its availability in many forms such as methane hydrates, natural gas, biogas, compressed liquid synthetic and pipe gas. can be effectively used existing diesel dual-fuel mode with few modifications. Dual-fuel technology helps bridge conventional gaseous fuel-powered engines. The properties of methane, including higher calorific value, abundant diffusion, wider flammability limit make it suitable improving the performance compression ignition engine mode. Methane-diesel are an effective reducing vehicle pollution partially replacing fuels transport applications. Therefore, comprehensive review needed document various pathways utilization This study critically compared combustion, noise, performance, emission characteristics methane-fueled identify current challenges future perspectives synergistic use reduce emissions from

A New Strategy for Reduction of Emissions and Enhancement of Performance Characteristics of Dual Fuel Engines at Part Loads
Increasingly restrictive emission regulations and renewed focus on energy efficiency drive the current researches to find alternative fuels and their related better combustion strategies. In this regard, dual fuel engines, in which natural gas fuel is used as a main fuel and diesel fuel is employed as a pilot fuel, have received considerable attention. However, poor fuel utilization efficiencie...
متن کاملCombustion Characteristics of a Diesel-hydrogen Dual Fuel Engine
Among the alternative fuels, hydrogen shows great potential in the near future. In the present study, hydrogen utilization as diesel engine fuel was investigated. Hydrogen can not be used directly in a diesel engine due to its autoignition temperature higher than that of diesel fuel. One alternative method is to use hydrogen in enrichment or induction. To investigate the combustion characterist...
متن کاملToward an Improvement of Natural Gas-diesel Dual Fuel Engine Operation at Part Load Condition by Detail CFD Simulation
Natural gas-diesel dual fuel combustion is a beneficial strategy for achieving high efficient and low emissions operation in compression ignition engines, especially in genset application heavy duty diesel engine at rated power. This study aims to investigate a dual fuel engine performance and emissions using premixed natural gas and early direct injection of diesel fuel. Due to the different r...
متن کاملOxygenated Diesel: Emissions and Performance Characteristics of Ethanol-Diesel Blends in CI Engines
Diesel engines are major contributors of various types of air polluting exhaust gasses such as Particulate Matter (PM), Carbon monoxide (CO), Oxides of Nitrogen (NOx), Sulfur, and other harmful compounds. It has been shown that formation of these air pollutants can be significantly reduced by blending oxygenates into the base diesel. Ethanol blended diesel (e-diesel) is a cleaner burning altern...
متن کاملAn Experimental Investigation of Diesel Engines Fuel Injection Pressure Effect on Power Performance and Fuel Consumption
The objective of this paper is to investigate the effect of fuel injection pressure on power performance and fuel consumption of diesel engine. In a diesel engine, fuel injection pressure is an important aspect of the engines’ power performance in order to obtain combustion treatment. The experiments in this paper are performed on a four-cylinder two-stroke direct injection diesel engine. The d...
